How To Backup Active Directory (Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2008r2)

1) For Windows Server 2003

a) Open NTVACKUP By (Run—->NTBACKUP—>Enter

b) If you are prompted by the Backup or Restore Wizard, I suggest you un-check the “Always Start
in Wizard Mode” checkbox, and click on the Advanced Mode link.

c) In NTBACKUP Window Click on Backup Tab

d) Click to select the System State checkbox.Note you cannot manually select components of the
System State backup. It’s all or nothing.

e) Enter path to save backup file.

f) Click on Start Backup.

2)For Windows Server 2008
a) Before taking system state backup in windows server 2008 you need to first install backup
feature using Server Manager (Click Start—->Server Manager—>Click Features—–>Add
Features—->Scroll to bottom and select both Windows server Backup and Command Line Tools.

Note: In Server 2008, there isn’t an option to backup the System State data through the
normal backup utility . We need to go “command line” to backup Active Directory.

b) After that Open Command Prompt ant type following command:
wbadmin start systemstatebackup -backuptarget:e:

Where e: is your External Backup Drive.
Please note that you cannot take backup on local disk.

3) Windows Server 2008 R2

a) Open Windows Server Backup

b) In action panel click Backup Once

c) Different Options is Selected, click Next

d) Choose Custom, click Next

e) Click Add Items

f) Select System State, click Next

g) Specify Backup Destination, Local drive (Apart from System Volume) or Network Share

h) Click Backup to start System State Backup

i) You may close the wizard and the backup operation will continue to run in background

[FIX]PhpMyAdmin “Error #1227- Access Denied, you need (at least one of) the super privilege(s) for this operation”

Above errors comes when you upload/import database on hosting environments using phpmyadmin.

To Resolve this error you need to open your “Database Name.sql” file in any editor and find/search below line

"Definer='root@localhost"

Remove this line from .sql file, save it and try to import it. It will import successfully.

[FIX] Virtual Machine Error “Virtual machine appears to be in use”

If you got error “Virtual machine appears to be in use” when you try to open the vmx file in VMWare workstation, is probably because the host machine experience an unexpected shutdown. This would be the error message.

To Fix this problem/Error go into the virtual machine folder and Delete all “lck” files.

[FIX] “Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. Invalid XML, the view cannot be loaded” Error

When starting outlook if you got above error the solution is

Step-1: Click Start.

Step-2:Click Run

Step-3: type “outlook.exe/ResetNavPane” Or (Copy command between “” quotes and paste it in run dialog box.

Step-4 Done. Start Outlook now.

How to change default Skype ports 80 and 443

There are times when you want to change default Skype port ie. 80 and 443. If you want to use any web server(Apache,XAMPP,IIS) these ports conflict with web servers ports.

Follow below steps to change Skype ports:

STEP-1: Open Skype and select Tools Menu.

STEP-2:Select Connection option. You will get following screen where a check box with text “Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections” Checked.

STEP-3: Just uncheck “Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections” Checkbox. and you are done.Following popup window appears click OK and Reboot/Restart.

MySQL Commands

* To Check MySQL server is running or not use command
Mysql0

* To Check Which MySQL Version is use following command
mysql2

* To Check Current Status of MySQL server
mysql3

* To Check Status of all MySQL Server Variable’s and Value’s use the following command
# mysqladmin -u root -p extended-status

* To See all MySQL Server Variables and Values
# mysqladmin -u root -p variables

* Check all running process of MySQL server
#mysqladmin -u root -p processlist

* Create New Database in MySQL
# mysqladmin -u root -p create (Database name)

* Drop Database in MySQL
# mysqladmin -u root -p drop (Database Name)

* Reload MySQL Privileges (which reloads the grant tables)
# mysqladmin -u root -p reload;

* Refresh MySQL Privileges (flushes all tables and reopen log files)
# mysqladmin -u root -p refresh;

* Shutdown/Stop/Start MySQL Server
# mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown
# mysqladmin -u root -p stop
# mysqladmin -u root -p start

* All flush commands (MySQL Server)
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-hosts
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-tables
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-threads
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-logs
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-privileges
# mysqladmin -u root -p flush-status

* Kill Sleeping MySQL Client Process
Find the sleeping process Id with below command:
# mysqladmin -u root -p processlist
Now kill that process with below command
# mysqladmin -u root -p kill (Process ID)
For killing multiple processes
# mysqladmin -u root -p kill (process ID-1),(Process ID-2)….

* Connect Remote MySQL server
# mysqladmin -h (Remote MySQL server IP) -u root -p

* Executing commands on Remote Server
# mysqladmin -h (Remote MySQL server IP) -u root -p status
